Young persons and the young at heart are invited to take advantage of a terrific opportunity to earn your official Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Junior Ranger Badge.  You can have a fun time discovering more about the natural wonders of the Chattahoochee River and the wildlife and the habitats along its banks.  Hike along the river, climb up to a natural rock shelter, and walk around Island Ford Pond finding items on your Junior Ranger Scavenger Hunt checklist.  You may choose to complete the official Junior ranger activity Book.  Learn more about being a good steward of the National Park Sites.  Then return to the Hewlett Lodge Visitor Center to recite the Junior Ranger pledge, be sworn in as a National Park Service Junior Ranger and receive your official Junior Ranger Badge!

The day will be very casual, informal.  This Junior Ranger opportunity is on your on and at your own pace.  Families are invited to just enjoy the day and complete the Jr. Ranger Book or participate in the alternative Jr. Ranger activities offered.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bring:  Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail.  Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level. Be sure to bring water and a snack might be a good idea.
