Twilight Bat Walk 🦇
Thursday, May 14th
8:00–9:15 PM
Columns Drive - Cochran Shoals Park Unit
Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area
Come walk on the wild (and winged) side!
Spring and early summer are “pup season,” when bats are raising their tiny young, called pups. Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is host to seven different kinds of bats, including the tri-colored bat, which is up for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Join the National Park Service for a twilight walk to learn about and look for some of our resident bats in our Cochran Shoals unit, where the riparian, forest, and grasslands ecosystems make for great bat habitat.
Facilities: Water and restrooms available in the parking lot.
Trail Difficulty: Level gravel paths; accessible and beginner-friendly.
What to Bring: Water, weather-appropriate clothing, and comfortable walking shoes. Flashlights optional.
Please leave pets at home.
A $5 daily parking pass or annual pass is required at all Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area park units. You can purchase a day pass at the trailhead or online: https://www.nps.gov/chat/planyourvisit/fees.htm
