The program, led by Bill Witherspoon, author of Roadside Geology of Georgia, will consist of a geology walk in the park followed by a presentation in the historic Hewlett Lodge Visitor Center. Dr. Witherspoon will lead us on a short hike along the river at Island Ford to observe, identify, and learn about important geology – past and present - along this scenic section of the Chattahoochee River. Following the hike, we’ll learn more about these fabulous rocks, how they shaped the landscape and history here, and where else to find really neat geology nearby around Atlanta. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Don’t take this program for granite; register for a spot today!
