National Park Week Kick-Off: National JR Ranger Day & Earth Week!

Saturday, April 18th11:00 - 3:00 PMJohnson Ferry N Unit Chattahoochee River National Recreation AreaYoung persons and the young at heart are invited to take advantage of a terrific opportunity to earn your official Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Junior Ranger Badge. You can have a fun time discovering the natural wonders of the Chattahoochee River and the wildlife and the habitats along its banks. Hike along the river, explore streams, wetlands, meadows, and forest, finding items on your Junior Ranger Scavenger Hunt checklist or use the Junior Ranger Activity Book. Learn more about being a good steward of National Park Service sites. After completing the activities, return to our table to be sworn in as a National Park Service Junior Ranger . You will then receive your official Junior Ranger Badge! The day will be very casual and informal. This Junior Ranger opportunity is on your own and at your own pace. Families are invited to just enjoy the day and complete the Jr. Ranger Book or participate in the alternative Jr. Ranger activities offered. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Location: Johnson Ferry North Unit, Johnson Ferry Road at the River, Marietta, Georgia 30368. Next to NOC outpost in the gravel parking lot.Facilities: Located across from the boat ramp Difficulty: Easy level walking Bring: Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level. Be sure to bring water and a snack might be a good idea.A $5 daily parking pass or annual pass is required at all Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area park units.
