Gunby Creek Wetland Investigation Station

Thursday, July 11th

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Drop-By)

Drop by and join National Park Service Ranger Jerry Hightower at an informal investigation station at the Gunby Creek Wetland Boardwalk! The boardwalk is a short stroll along the trail from the Interstate North Parking Area. Ranger Jerry will have cattails to examine with magnifiers and microscopes with along with a fun worksheet. Determine wetland soils from upland soils, discover the tiny monsters that live in wetland water, and learn why wetlands are so very important. Have much more fun with this casual and informal look into this wetland habitat!

Location: 2080 Interstate North Parkway; Atlanta, Georgia 30339. Just follow the trail until you see the investigation station.

Facilities: Restrooms at parking area

Difficulty: Easy.

Bring: Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level. BRING ADEQUATE WATER and you might include snacks. You may wish to bring binoculars and a hand lens.

Heat warning: As summer temperatures soar and heat incidents increase across the park, CNPC urges attendees to stay safe by being well-prepared for high temperatures. Please bring plenty of water (often more than you think you'll need!), list a reliable emergency contact, and know your limits.
