Description: Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Chattahoochee River with panoramic views of blooming forests, rocky bluffs, and sandy shorelines along the West Palisades Trail. Nestled within Atlanta, this four-mile loop showcases the park's natural wonders through unpaved trails winding through lush, vine-covered hardwood forests. Be captivated by stunning river vistas and dramatic rocky bluff overlooks, making this hike one of the most scenic in-town adventures.
Location: We will meet at the Akers Mill Parking Lot
Facilities: Restrooms are located 0.5 miles from the parking lot
Difficulty: This is a moderate to strenuous 4.5 - 5 mile hike; hiking poles are recommended. Ages 10 and up. Please, NO dogs.
Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for forest trail walking, considering layers for temperature changes. Remember to bring water and snacks, and optionally pack binoculars and a hand lens for a more immersive experience.
Note: A daily entrance fee of $5 or annual pass is required.
