JOIN THE CHATTAHOOCHEE NATIONAL PARK CONSERVANCY FOR January First Day COMMUNITY HIKE

 

MonDAY, January 1

 10 AM - 1 PM

Bowmans ISland Unit of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA)      


FIRST DAY HIKE! Welcome the New Year outdoors, exercising, socializing, and connecting with nature.

Hike 5 miles Top to Bottom in CRNRA’s northernmost unit. Our mostly flat, easy hike travels along the river from the north trailhead to the south section. Optional walk to see the Buford Dam after we hike in the woods.

Just north of Buford Dam, turn off Buford Dam Road onto Lower Pool Road. There is a power transfer station at the turn. At the bottom of the hill there are two parking lots. CRNRA is the first parking lot.

Please no dogs.

Restrooms are available at the Army Corp of Engineers parking lot 300 yards east of the CRNRA parking lot.

Limit: 20

This event will be rescheduled due to severe weather including thunderstorms or flood warnings. Participants will be notified by email the morning of the event (or sooner) if this event is rescheduled due to weather.

There is a $5.00 per day fee to park at the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.
