Join National Park Service Naturalist Jerry Hightower for a campfire, guided walk, and a beautiful autumn afternoon and the sun dropping ever lower in the western sky. Hear Discover interesting facts about the Native Americans that once called the Chattahoochee River Corridor their home. Enjoy and perhaps participate in the creative portrayal of a Cherokee Legend. Learn the Cherokee’s river song. Enjoy this fascinating program as the day ends and sunset approaches. Discover new facts about life long ago along the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and the importance of history and science in the Chattahoochee River Corridor. Join us and enjoy the ambiance, and beauty of twilight on the Chattahoochee. After the program you are invited to join us on a short walk on the Three Forks Loop Trail.


Location: Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center, 8615 Barnwell Road, Johns Creek, Georgia, 30022. No entrance fee at this site. For directions see www.nps.gov/chat Parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged.

Facilities: Located in the Center’s Lodge Difficulty: Easy level walking

Bring: Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level. Bring water and you might include snacks.
You are also welcome to bring your own marshmallows to roast. We have roasting forks that you may use.
