Cochran Shoals & Powers Island

Join our October hike at two units: Cochran Shoals/Interstate North and Powers Island. The total mileage for both hikes is 7 miles, but the last 1.6 miles is optional.  Meet at the Powers Island parking lot. Our group will walk across the highway bridge to the Cochran Shoals/Interstate North parking lot.

Cochran Shoals trails travel along the river, across a swamp boardwalk and climb the ridge west of the river. This 3.8 mile moderate to strenuous hike has several steep, eroded sections. Trails travel through sunny, open meadows and the forest.
This hike covers most trails in southwest Cochran Shoals/Interstate North for the HikeCRNRA Challenge. Future Community Hikes will cover all the trails in Cochran Shoals. After hiking Cochran Shoals, our group will walk back across the highway bridge to the Powers Island parking lot. Powers Island trails travel along the river, and up, across, and down a ridge. This 1.6 mile moderate hike covers all trails in Powers Island for the HikeCRNRA Challenge.

       Ages 10 and up.
       Please no dogs.
There are restrooms at both parking lots.
       Limit: 20

Meet at the Powers Island parking lot.
