Description: Join National Park Service Naturalist Jerry Hightower for a program on the beloved and very successful turtle. The turtle has been around for millions of years of changes on our planet, but its success might be running out. Enjoy this fascinating program and the full moon rising over the treetops. Discover new facts about the wildlife of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area with the evening’s program on turtles of the Chattahoochee River Corridor and beyond. Receive a complimentary Chattahoochee River Naturalist Journal with wildlife lists and paw prints. Join us and enjoy the stars and planets, the ambiance, and the nighttime beauty of the Chattahoochee. You are welcome to come early and bring a picnic dinner. Walk the Three Forks Creek Loop Trail and check out the interesting turtle facts posted on signs along the way.
Location: Chattahoochee River Environmental Education Center, 8615 Barnwell Road, Johns Creek, Georgia, 30022.
Parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged.
Facilities: Located in the Center’s Lodge. Due to the pandemic, there will be a one way traffic flow through the Lodge, a limit of four persons in the lodge at a time, and masks are required in all Federal buildings.
Difficulty: Easy level walking
Bring: Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level. A flashlight is a good idea. Bring water and you might include snacks
